Next location: westbound eastbound
Just west of South Coffeyville, OK on Stateline Road, I walked into Purkey’s Used Cars and asked the gentleman behind the counter if he knew where I’d find the survey monument in the field across the road. Although a seasoned veteran of the neighborhood, he knew nothing of the marker. I returned after making the photograph and showed him that the state line was in fact forty feet south of the road. His response: “Next time an Oklahoma trooper stops me for speeding on the road, I’ll be sure to tell him he’s in Kansas.”
