CO-NM Mile 283 + 40 chains: A Corral on La Plata River

Looking west at CO-NM Mile 283 + 40 chains. 36˚ 59.9865′ N, 108˚ 11.21016′ W  

  

The Utah side of the line is the home of Southern Utes. The border passes right through their corral; La Plata River snakes through trees in the distance. The border monument, seen below, consists of two pieces of railroad rail, welded together, forming a pentagonal core.
