There’s no fence along the state line here, where It’s high and dry on the edge of the strip north of the Texas panhandle that Texans declined to absorb because they would have had to walk away from slavery. The panhandle west of Indian Territory, known as No Man’s Land in the latter part of the 19th century, was folded into Oklahoma Territory in 1890.
